Question: Hi, I have a q dog has mange, it is about 5 years, I have key several times to the vet and you do the treatment but after a while it keeps coming back, I have made amitraz baths several times but no improvement ...

First it is important to diagnose what type of mange is, this is achieved with a skin scraping, there are only 2 possibilities demodex mange, caused by the demodex, which is not contagious or to other dogs or persons, occurs in immunosuppressed dogs or low immunity, and in that case would have to check if there is another concomitant disease.

The other possibility is mange, caused by Sarcoptes, which is contagious to other dogs and even people.

Conventional treatment is combined with amitraz baths for 10 days minimum and ivermectin injection of 2 doses separated by 20 days.

The other possibility is to manage bathrooms with benzyl benzoate solution that is used to treat scabies in humans. and spraying the environment is key in that the dogs with the same benzoate to prevent reinfection, (blankets, mats, beds)

There are also immunostimulatory (inmunocel) to help raise the defense in the event that this immunosuppressed.
