In less than a year, the Court analyzed a second time a lawsuit seeking to protect animals. Two of the judges, because of their belief, remove themselves from the discussion of whether to declare bullfighting and cockfighting as "cruel" to animals. Therefore, the discussion, which was addressed on Wednesday in Plenary, had to be postponed until next week, and it was decided to appoint two associate judges to serve for both disabled. Within a year, the Constitutional Court again to discuss a lawsuit seeking to overturn the rule excluding listing of cruel to animals (Act 84 of 1989)

On that occasion, the issue divided the judges: four of them, Maria Victoria Street, Mauricio Gonzalez, Jorge Ivan Palacio and Nilson Pinilla, rescued vote because it considered that the application met the requirements to be discussed. However, three of them expressed their position on the constitutionality of the law.

But the judge went further and Palacio said in writing, in his rescue, animal shows became such a violation of this species.

Said it is a State obligation to provide protection not only humans but the environment and the wildlife that surrounds them.

Within the claim process have involved several representatives of organizations of bullfighters, among others, who claim that these shows general in the country more than 2000 direct jobs. For its part, animal advocates will support demand and insist that the Court declare such acts unconstitutional
