The Socialists will make the final decision when making the final vote on the ILP bullfighting in July. AvuiLluís Bou, Barcelona. The PSC opens the door to give freedom to vote in the final discussion on the prohibition of bullfighting in Parliament. The Socialist leadership has begun to show sensitivity to the request made last week the Minister for Economy, Antoni Castells, to that effect.

The position also has the support of some 320 party members, gathered around the Socialist councilor of Vallalta Cebrià Sant (Maresme), Carles Marco. During the parliamentary debate on the ILP, the PSC was positioned on a rail in favor of the bulls, and when the ban was debated in committee voted against the PP and Ciutadans together. But the move went ahead, only awaiting approval by the plenary in July, with the support of CiU, ERC and ICV.



But within the socialist group there are Members who are against bullfights, as revealed in the initial vote of the ILP. When discussing if they agreed to process the PSC allowed a free vote, but to thrive antibullfighting initiative thereafter ordered discipline against the abolition of bullfighting. The PSC's afraid of the reaction in Spain will be deleted if the bull, and also a sector of the party is strongly protaurino.

PSC deputy manager of the ILP, David Perez, told this newspaper that the final decision "is made by the parliamentary group of the same week of voting," which is expected to be on 14 July. "The decision based on the general approach and how are our amendments," he added. The Socialists have tabled amendments against the ban on bullfighting, and proposing measures to improve the treatment of animals.

It appears that may not agree.

If the PSC finally enact a free vote, the prohibition of the bulls takes for granted. Currently parliamentary means an estimated 70 deputies (the absolute majority is 68) are in favor of the ILP, a figure that will be higher if you add some parliamentarians and ICV socialistas.ERC vote for a ban on bullfighting, and CiU has decreed a free vote. Most nationalist representatives also support the ILP, but this is not the case for Members of the Terres de l'Ebre, which are protaurinos.

The bull ban was discussed at the last plenary session of Parliament, but the PP has been the proposal to the Council for Statutory Guarantees. And the agency now has one month to rule.

In principle, the conclusion is not binding unless it is imposed the criterion to interpret from the point of view of the violation of a fundamental right. According to popular sources, this would be the case if one considered that the ban violates the bulls free enterprise.
