Unanimously, Pereira City Council approved the draft agreement to protect the rights of animals. For the first time in Colombia, a city council approved a draft agreement which prohibits the filing of circuses that use animals in their presentations. Pereira The City Council approved the project by which special measures are taken to control and protect wildlife species and exotic subject of public entertainment in the town of Pereira. And Pereira city declares a promoter of conservation education and abuse prevention and exotic wildlife.

The agreement, which became the executive sanction prohibits local government to dispose of their property for the purpose of presenting performances involving the use of wild and exotic animals, also it indicates that the municipality of Pereira and decentralized entities, shall not promote, finance and include in their tourist and cultural programming, which included public entertainment and exotic wildlife.
