The oil spill occurred last April 20 in the Gulf of Mexico has sparked one of the most serious environmental disasters worldwide. The area, considered until then as the largest protected water basin in the Atlantic Ocean, has hosted more than 200 species of birds and countless marine species. At 1,500 meters of pipeline rupture caused the extraction of fuel.


For nearly three months has spilled into the ocean at a rate of 800,000 liters per day-enough volume to fill an Olympic pool every three days. At least 400 species of animals are being seriously affected due to human intervention in their habitat.


Given this extreme situation, the organization Matter of Trust launched an initiative to that through the collection of hair, to undertake sanitation work in the disaster zone, which extended to the Mexican coast.
